Cody Winchester

Ms. Cody Winchester has extensive experience in intellectual property litigation and licensing. Representing Fortune 500 companies, she has successfully litigated numerous trademark infringement, copyright infringement, and cyberpiracy matters, including matters culminating in opinions recognized as “Trademark Opinion of the Year” by the International Trademark Association – in 2006, representing Volkswagen on and after appeal in Au-Tomotive Gold, Inc. v. Volkswagen of America, and in 2002, representing Ford in Ford Motor Company v. Lloyd Design Corp.

She has been repeatedly recognized by her peers as one of Utah’s “Legal Elite” in the category of Intellectual Property as determined by an annual survey of members of the Utah bar conducted by Utah Business Magazine.

Ms. Winchester served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Utah S. J. Quinney College of Law, teaching Pretrial Practice and Procedure, from 2011 to 2015 and again from 2021 to 2022. She also served on the Legislation Committee of the Business Law Section of the Utah State Bar, reviewing proposed legislation and regulations for impacts on Utah businesses and advocating for improvements to laws and regulations to support business development and business law in Utah.

Recognizing the shortcomings of traditional estate planning and seeking to employ her legal skills in a more personal setting, Ms. Winchester creates estate plans that are specifically designed to meet the needs of entrepreneurs, investors, and their families. She is a graduate of Yale Law School, was the Yale Law Journal Book Reviews Editor, and clerked for United States Federal District.
